Social Media

Parents Are Advised Not to Post Identifiable Information of Players on Social Media

Social media can be a fun tool to communicate with friends and family about things that are going on in your life. However, it can also provide more information than you realize about yourself and others. For this reason, AYSO advises parents to be mindful of what they post on their social media profiles, regardless if those profiles are public or private.

In accordance to AYSO's Safe Haven Electronic Communication and Social Media Policy, inappropriate postings that divulge the identity of minors are not permitted. Inappropriate postings include posting:

  • First and last name of a minor
  • Name and location of player
  • Team rosters with names and contact information

When posting photos of AYSO players, other than your own child(ren), we advise you to check with the other child's parents before posting. Do not post identifiable information of children other than your own.

If you question whether the posting is appropriate, it is probably in the best interest of the player to not post the image. We depend on our AYSO community to help provide a safe haven for all AYSO players.

Pacifica Tribune

GUIDELINES FOR GAME REPORTS

The Pacifica Tribune has, in the past, been very generous in allocating space for write-ups following the games. The kids love to see their names in the paper, so it is important that each team identifies a parent that can commit to doing the post-game write up each week.  There is a publicity sheet in the Team Parent packet that can be given to the parent who volunteers to do the write ups. This is also something that can be rotated between the different families. Some teams delegate the snack and write up to a specific family each week so there is just one game to cover per family. Please communicate to your team that the write ups are delayed and they are printed as space is available. Every write up that is turned in, and had followed the guideline, will be submitted to the Tribune.

If your team has a sponsor, this information is important.  Sponsors are paying to have their name in the paper with your team’s name. Please be extra conscientious about turning in publicity if you have a sponsor.  Please do not submit publicity direct to Tribune, it will not be accepted.
